Here’s how to order keto at Chipotle:

Keto Chipotle Salads

“I’ll have the [meat] salad, please.”

For vegetarians, Chipotle introduced soy-bean based sofritas, hence the slightly higher carb count and the fiber. It’s important to watch the serving size of the sofritas in order to stay keto. Chipotle has also added Chicken Al Pastor as a meat selection, but be aware that it has 2g of added sugar and the highest carb count of all the meat options. Meat options for salads include:

  • Chicken Chipotle Salad: 185 calories | 7g fat | 1g total carbs | 1g fiber | 0g sugar | 32g protein | 1g net carbs
  • Chicken Al Pastor Chipotle Salad: 205 calories | 11g fat | 5g total carbs | 1g fiber | 2g sugar | 23g protein | 4g net carbs
  • Steak Chipotle Salad: 155 calories | 6g fat | 2g total carbs | 2g fiber | 0g sugar | 21g protein | 2g net carbs
  • Carnitas Chipotle Salad: 215 calories | 12g fat | 1g total carbs | 0g fiber | 0g sugar | 23g protein | 1g net carbs
  • Barbacoa Chipotle Salad: 175 calories | 7g fat | 3g total carbs | 2g fiber | 0g sugar | 24 protein | 1g net carbs

The vegan meat option from Chipotle has the highest sugar and carb count of all the protein-packed toppings so enjoy this option sparingly, or opt for the all-veggie salad which includes guacamole in place of a meat.

  • Sofritas Chipotle Salad: 155 calories | 10g fat | 10g total carbs | 4g fiber | 5g sugar | 8g protein | 6g net carbs
  • Veggie Chipotle Salad: 235 calories | 22g fat | 9g total carbs | 7g fiber | 1g sugar | 2g protein | 2g net carbs

Keto Chipotle toppings

“…And to that salad, can you add…”

Are you wondering, “Is Chipotle queso keto?” It is! Wondering what can you add to your bowl? A lot. Be aware that some toppings may cost extra (varies by location). If you want low carb Chipotle toppings, pick from these and keep an eye on the serving size:

  • Fajita vegetables: 20 calories | 0g fat | 5g total carbs | 1g fiber | 2g sugar | 1g protein | 4g net carbs
  • Queso: 120 calories | 9g fat | 4g total carbs | 1g fiber | 1g sugar | 5g protein | 3g net carbs
  • Fresh tomato salsa: 25 calories | 0g fat | 4g total carbs | 1g fiber | 1g sugar | 0g protein | 3g net carbs

  • Romaine Lettuce: 5 calories | 0g fat | 1g total carbs | 1g fiber | 0g sugar | 0g protein | 0g net carbs

chipotle chicken salad

“I’d like the chicken salad, with fajita grilled veggies, fresh tomato salsa, sour cream, cheese, and guacamole. And can you please add extra chicken?”

Okay, so that order’s a mouthful, but you deserve all the good stuff. The extra chicken will run you just under $4, but it’s worth it if you’re really hungry. Want to ensure you truly get double meat? After they portion out the first scoop of chicken (before you let them know you want double chicken), that’s when you should ask for the extra serving on top since they’ll actually double the portion based on the single they just served (trust me on this!).

  • Chipotle Chicken Salad: 690 calories | 46g fat | 23g total carbs | 10g fiber | 7g sugar | 44g protein | 13g net carbs
  • Chipotle Chicken Salad w/ Extra Chicken: 870 calories | 51g fat | 23g total carbs | 10g fiber | 7g sugar | 76g protein | 13g net carbs

chipotle carnitas salad

“I’ll have the Carnitas salad with fajita grilled veggies, fresh tomato salsa, sour cream, cheese, and guacamole, with queso.”

Those grilled vegetables add so much flavor! The queso has a few carbs going on (three to be exact), so keep it off to the side for dipping if you want to keep it lower in carbs.

  • Chipotle Carnitas Salad: 840 calories | 60g fat | 27g total carbs | 10g fiber | 8g sugar | 40g protein | 17g net carbs

Skip the chips!

man holding tortilla chips

I know, you love those Chipotle tortilla chips that have that hint of lime flavor, but a small order clocks in at 73g of carbs. 😱 OUCH! That’s like spending three days’ worth of carbs on one order of chips. You for sure won’t find these as a recommended item in our keto Chipotle dining guide! 🚫

quest chili lime chips

Instead, get your order to go and grab a bag of Quest low carb protein tortilla chips. The Chipotle chips calories rack up fast but with Quest, you have some portion control. Plus, you can have an entire bag of Quest tortilla chips and it’s only 4g of net carbs, now that’s what I’m talking about!

I was just diagnosed with gestational diabetes 3 weeks ago and your website has been amazing. I was craving Mexican food and knew it would totally spike my sugar levels if I got it. After looking at the options at Chipotle I was able to find something to satisfy my craving and keep my sugar levels in check! Thank you!!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Awww, thank you so much! I am so glad you have found something that will not spike your sugar levels that you love!

    • Jen

That’s why I am here too! Only bummer is the cauliflower rice is always temporarily unavailable in my area ๐Ÿ™

  2. Rachel

Chipotle just came out with cilantro lime cauliflower rice! ๐Ÿ˜‹

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

They did! Thanks for the reminder!

Just curious why no beans ? I thought beans were a good source of protein or is that they are 2 high in carbs ? Just curious

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there! If staying keto, it is best to avoid them as they are higher in carbs.

    • robin lee leclerc

yes they are high in carbs

  4. Greg Purvis

I am wondering why you said Chipotle chicken al pastore is not keto (I am type 2 diabetic). Another article I read says it has 4 carbs per serving, the only negative was 800 mg of sodium.

    • Emily (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Greg! Thank you for mentioning this. We had placed the Chicken Al Pastor option on the avoid list due to the added sugar + higher carb count when compared to the other meat options (outside of the vegan Sofritas). But that said, it would better serve our readers to include it anyway so they can make the choice if it works for their macros or not. We’ve added it in with its nutritional values in the Chipotle Salad section. Thanks again for commenting to make this post even better!
