Have You Tried General Mills Wonderworks Keto Cereal?
Here’s our honest review of Wonderworks keto cereal and how to save right now!
Keto-friendly cereal that tastes great and won’t break the bank? Yes!
Before keto, I’ve always had a love for cereal. And even now, living low carb, my love for the crunchy, sweet morsels has never gone away, so I was super excited back when I first tried General Mills Wonderworks keto cereal.
And right now, you can save by buying 2 boxes for $7.99 at Costco!
We all know cereal is yummy, however, we also all know it’s typically carb-heavy and sugar-loaded. Seeing a keto-friendly version makes it an easy add to my weekly grocery pickup. It’s even better now that it’s rumored to have a sale where you can grab 2 boxes for $7.99 at Costco!
Quick note! This post is not sponsored. I happened to test out this cereal for myself when I first spotted it at Walmart and loved it enough to share it with you all!
Wonderworks KETO cereal is the brainchild of General Mills and they’ve created three enticing flavors: chocolate, peanut butter, and cinnamon. Well, I tried all 3 and I’m here to let you in on a little spoiler… they’re all WONDERful!
Do I have my favorite? YEP! Will I be buying another box? HECK YES!
Even if you are not doing keto, this option is still perfect if you’re watching your sugar intake, plus I have no mom guilt giving this cereal to my boys (and they loved it!).
This isn’t the first keto cereal out there and our team happens to love a few other brands, such as Catalina Crunch and Magic Spoon. Sure, they’re delicious in their own right, but I was personally thrilled with the fact that this cereal is on a grocery shelf, I did not have to buy in bulk (great if I ended up not liking it), and it wasn’t too terrible in price in comparison to others.
Just so you can compare pricing, I broke it all down for you:
- Magic Spoon – Only available in 4 packs, $39 ($9.75 per box)
- Catalina Crunch – Only available in 4 packs, $49 ($12.25 per box)
- Wonderworks Keto Cereal – Available online and in-store at Walmart & Target in single boxes, only $7.98 a box!
Right now, you may be able to grab 2 boxes for $7.99 at your local Costco!
Buy 2 Wonderworks Keto Cereals for $7.99 – that’s $4 per box!
*in select stores only
One of the big wins for Wonderworks was the fact that a serving size is 1 CUP! 🙌 When a serving size is so small, but you eat double because you love it so much, are you really keeping it low carb? Who munches on only 1/4 cup of cereal? Not me! I want a big ole bowl of cereal for breakfast! 😆
Another big thing for me with this keto cereal was the taste straight out of the box as well as when it’s served with almond milk. Keto ingredients can be tricky at times but Wonderworks keto-friendly cereal NAILED IT! Seriously, it has the crunch of a KIX cereal (remember those 😂), but with true sweet cereal flavors.
So then the real test came along when I poured the milk over it. This keto cereal does not get soggy like normal cereal. The flavors do change a little when liquid hits it, but not by much, as it still tastes amazing.
What is the Wonderworks nutrition information?

But this keto cereal doesn’t just need to be served with milk…
I don’t know if you are like me, but I love eating cereal dry so I thought why not make a keto sweet snack mix with this?! I combined the chocolate and peanut butter cereals with some cashews and some keto-friendly chocolate chips for the perfect grab-and-go mix when I’m in the mood for something sweet. YUM!
I hope you’re able to try this cereal out ASAP and be sure to come on back to let me know what you think!

Why does it say 3g net carbs on the front of the box but the label says 16g and 4g fiber??? That would be 12g net carbs????
Hi Rei! You’d also subtract the sugar alcohols. Hope that helps!
Subtract ( 5 fibers / 5 sugar alcohol / 4 allulose) you will get 3g carbs
I recently purchased the chocolate and the cinnamon. I’ve eaten the chocolate with milk (Fairlife) twice, and enjoyed it both times. I have tried it dry–not bad, but the whey flavor comes through a little too much without milk. I haven’t been able to find the peanut butter–which I expect to really like, and I haven’t gotten into the cinnamon, yet. When not strictly on keto, my go-to cereal is the Publix version of Fiber One. So, I’m not used to the sugary stuff (I do love some of them, but I just can’t have the sugar.) Because of price, I haven’t tried some of the “better” keto cereals. This works for me with a price I can manage for one or two servings a week. I’m just glad to see the big GM into the keto game with an affordable cereal.
We really appreciate you giving us this great and thorough review! It’s super helpful and I’m glad you are enjoying options out there.
I haven’t tried the chocolate but I found the cinnamon was pretty bland ☹️☹️
Thanks for trying this! I saw the chocolate one at walmart the other day but was hesitant because I just bought a bag of Catalina crunch that I need to finish. I was able to find Catalina Crunch from Vitacost they have many keto friendly items and I feel they are cheaper than Thrive Market.
You’re welcome, Deanna! Thanks for sharing with us! Hope you enjoy the Chocolate if you decide to grab it next time!
I simply have to chime in here! The day this was posted I PROMPTLY visited my Walmart app to see which closest one had this cereal. My second closest had all 3 – so I went out and got a box of each! Until now, I’ve only had Catalina Crunch (I enjoy their chocolate with unsweetened chocolate almond milk!), but I just can’t bring myself to try Magic Spoon, lol! PLEASANTLY surprised with these! The cinnamon was OK, the chocolate delicious (and I know with my unsweetened chocolate almond milk it’s gonna be the BOMB!), but the peanut butter?!?! DEAR LORD…SOOOO good!!!! This afternoon, to kick up the flavor, I added a generous tablespoon of actual PB to the cereal and then poured milk. Even for “dirty keto” this is cheating, right? Thanks for this intel…this is a game-changer for me!
Sounds like you are a huge fan of peanut butter! Having a generous portion of PB to the cereal every once in a while is probably okay, depending on your keto goals.
Thank you for the positive review of my new favorite cereal! I haven’t found too many positive reviews and can’t for the life of me figure out what people are complaining about. This actually tastes like CEREAL. You can buy it in the REGULAR CEREAL AISLE. A serving size is ONE WHOLE CUP. I do a half n half combo of choc/pb. Game changer! Some unsweetened almond milk, and I’m staying on track when those cravings hit. This is a KETO lifesaver!
YUM! You’re SO welcome, Rayna! Glad you have been loving it!
This cereal is hideous, atrocious, inedible. Its bizarre taste is like chemically treated sawdust infused with the unmistakably sickly sweet presence of stevia. No human should eat this cereal.
DARN! Sorry to hear you didn’t care for it. Thanks for the honest review.
If I was a gambling person, I’d bet you never had the cereal nor any intention of ever having the cereal.
I second with you msfpower. I usually fight with my kids about “don’t eat my keto food!” but after tasting this cereal (cinnamon flavor) I wouldn’t give this to my kids.
Isn’t Palm oil not good on Keto???
Hi Kristina! I did look around for some information on this and it appears that it can depend on the type and how it is made. As always, be sure to choose the items that work best for your plan. Hope this helps!
If you go at this cereal thinking you’re about to sample the next Coco Puffs, you’ll be severely disappointed. If you’re like me who’s been eating special foods for two decades now, this Wonderworks cereal is a huge win! People occasionally sample the food I’m eating and they always find whatever I’m eating disgusting. And for me, I don’t have a choice, I can’t have a bowl of Frosted Flakes. I just finished two bowls of chocolate and, I really enjoyed it. I’m also going to try the PB. I hope this cereal is around for awhile and, I will be purchasing again.
I just finished the PB and, it too was great!
Again, tastes nothing like your favorite sugar sweetened PB cereal like Cap N Crunch.
Thanks a ton for your helpful reviews on these cereal flavors, Baxter! We sure appreciate hearing about what you thought of them! Super glad you are enjoying both the chocolate and cinnamon varieties!
I just bought this cereal yesterday having browsed up and down the isle looking for something new to try , not even particularly looking for low calorie or sugar and happened upon the chocolate flavor. You know, it was pretty good!! It’s not a triple chocolate fudge brownie in a bowl that’s true, but if you’re looking for an healthy alternative for yourself or your kids than the garbage that’s out there this is certainly worth a try. I will definitely buy again.
Awesome! Thanks for taking a moment to let us know how you liked it!
So excited to see everyone loves this cereal……………..so bummed to see the ingredients. Canola oil. 🙁
Is this similar in texture/taste to Magic Spoon? I really wanted to like that but couldn’t handle it. I ended up throwing most of that away. (Their customer service was really good though).
No. Magic Spoon has a different goal – to taste somewhat like their sugar-loaded counterparts.
Wonderworks Keto balls are more of a “nutrition first, taste second” product IMO. If you didn’t like Magic Spoon, I suspect you will find Wonderworks to be even worse.
Not a fan!! Tastes VERY fake and leaves a gross after taste.
DARN! Thanks for your honest review, Amy R. Sorry to hear you didn’t care for it.
I was excited to try this cereal. I bought the cinnamon flavor. The after taste is horrible. It was the worst cereal I have ever tasted in my life. I won’t be buying this again.
Bummer! So sorry to hear you weren’t a fan. Thanks for taking a moment to let us know what you thought about the variety you grabbed. ❤️
I must say in spite of my desire to avoid GMOs and pesticides, I found it delicious.
Thanks for the feedback, Margaret! Glad you enjoyed this cereal! 🤗
I tried three of the flavors, and here is how I would rate them:
1) Chocolate (5/10) – great smell, okay flavor, chemical aftertaste
2) Cinnamon (2/10) – great smell, bad flavor, offensive aftertaste
3) Fruity (2/10) – great smell, bad flavor, strong chemical aftertaste
The chocolate flavor, while not enjoyable, is something I could eat as a quick breakfast every now and then. As for the “cinnamon” and “fruity” flavors, I would not wish those on my worst enemy.
Darn! Thanks so much for taking a moment to leave your honest review and rating for each flavor. Sorry to hear these were not a hit. 😔
Yes! And I love it.
I read alot of people hate it but my guess is they ate comparing it to their Capt’n Crunch.
Wonderworks is AWESOME for heath conscious keto people.
So glad to hear you’re loving it, Kevin! Thanks for taking a moment to share how awesome it is! 💞
