Easy Keto Chaffle Recipe (4 Delicious Variations From Sweet to Savory!)
It doesn’t get any better than a keto chaffle! Make our basic keto chaffle recipe or try one of these other yummy ideas!
Move over, cloud bread! The Keto Chaffle has made her grand entrance.
Alright, I’m sure you’ve seen it all over social media the past years and you’re wondering what is this craziness. You know what I’m talking about: the one and only chaffle!
We keto fans need something to keep us on track, and this low carb chaffle is just that. With just two main ingredients, you can create ENDLESS possibilities.
I’ve put together four easy, keto chaffle recipes for you: a crispy chaffle, a basic chaffle, a dessert chaffle, and a taco chaffle.
Tips for making a keto chaffle:
- Here is that magic little chaffle maker that we used to make the panini-style grill markers. You can also get this one that’s more like a waffle iron and is what we used for the taco chaffle. Save yourself time searching in the stores for the most popular appliance right now (it may be sold out). Just order through Target or Amazon.
- Do NOT spray your waffle maker with oil if you want a crispy texture. The cheese produces enough fat that it will not stick to the maker.
- Be patient. This is a quick process, but to get crunchy or stiff “bread”, you will need to leave it in longer than a normal waffle. A basic chaffle recipe takes anywhere between 3 to 6 minutes.
- Want a Crispy Chaffle? If you want that crunch resembling toast or a toasted bun, sprinkle some cheese on the maker first. Once it starts turning golden brown and bubbling, then you can add your chaffle batter.
- Be careful to not overfill the chaffle maker or it will make a mess! The taco chaffle recipe makes a total of 4 chaffles that are a little thinner than the other chaffles so they’re more like tortillas.

Directions
1
Basic Keto Chaffle Recipe Directions
- Heat mini waffle maker (should take 30 seconds).
- Whisk 2 eggs, and 1 cup of shredded cheese in a small bowl.
- Add half the mixture to the waffle maker and let it do its magic for 2-3 minutes. Repeat with the remaining mixture. This mixture will make 2 chaffles.
2
Crispy Chaffle Directions
- Heat mini waffle maker (should take 30 seconds). Sprinkle 1/2 tablespoon of each parmesan and mozzarella on the griddle and let it melt and toast for 30 seconds before adding your mixture (as listed in step 2). Use the remaining 1/2 tablespoons for the second chaffle.
- In a small bowl, add 2 eggs, 1/2 cup parmesan, 1/2 cup mozzarella, 2 teaspoons of almond flour, and Everything but the Bagel Seasoning (you can omit the seasoning if you are not a fan) and whisk.
- Pour half mixture into the waffle maker, making sure you DO NOT spill over the edge.
- Cook for 4 minutes (the longer you cook, the crispier it will be). Repeat with the remaining mixture. This mixture will make 2 chaffles.
3
Pumpkin Spice Chaffle Directions
- Heat mini waffle maker (should take 30 seconds).
- Whisk all ingredients together.
- Add half of the mixture to the waffle maker.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes (the longer you cook, the crispier the chaffle will be). This mixture will make 2 chaffles. Top with heavy whipped cream (optional).
4
Taco Chaffle Directions:
- Heat mini waffle maker (should take 30 seconds).
- Whisk together eggs, pepper jack cheese, and taco seasoning.
- Add a quarter of the mixture to the waffle maker.
- Cook for 3 to 4 minutes (the longer you cook, the crispier the chaffle will be).
- If you want to make a hard taco shell, fold the chaffle over a skewer that's across a bowl. It will keep its shape as it cools. If you want it to be an "open-faced" taco, then skip this step. This mixture makes 4 chaffles.
- Top with your favorite taco ingredients like ground beef seasoned with our keto taco seasoning, shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, and sour cream. YUM!

These keto chaffle recipes are seriously SO good!
Honestly, it’s easy to see why keto chaffles have become such a popular craze.
Love these recipes Ashley! Thanks! Can I just put Parmesan cheese in my mini waffle maker and make crispy cheese chips?
I would absolutely try it!!! I would do maybe just 2 mins and try it out but no need to spray with olive oil, Scott Williams! Let us know how it works out for you!
I use my regular Belgian waffle maker. No need to buy a new appliance! I’ve made several types but my favorite has been a loaded hash brown! I use frozen riced cauliflower that i steamed according to package directions. I used a 20oz bag and mixed it with 2 T sour cream, 2 eggs, dried chives, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. I mixed in some shredded cheddar and used it on the waffle maker as well. Next time I think I’ll add a little onion powder too.
Oh YUM! Thanks for taking the time to share your recipe with us, Lauren! That sure sounds delicious!
I just tried these for the first time and I’m hooked! I was wondering if these would work to make ahead and freeze for future use. Can you let me know if that might be possible to do?
Thank you!
Shari Steiner
You can make a large batch and freeze them, but you’ll want to freeze them on a baking sheet in a single layer. Once they are frozen, you can put them in a freezer bag with parchment between them to keep from sticking.
I haven’t had much luck using mozzarella cheese, for some reason the top and bottom don’t “meld” together. Any suggestions? I’m using whole milk version too. I have great luck with cheddar, but want to try some of these sweeter versions.
Hi Jennifer! For that you can add some Parmesan cheese along with the mozzarella to the waffle maker first to get the crispy texture. Just add both to the bottom and leave open the lid for a few minutes to create that melted base first. With using mozzarella in the mix you will have to leave it in for at least 5 minutes OR you can also try a little bit of almond flour with it! Hope this helps!
Thanks Amber! I do usually add some almond flour, but I mix the cheese and everything together, I’ll have to try this method!
You’re so welcome!
I love that your waffle maker has the small lines rather than the traditional waffle pattern! It resembles a bread more than the waffle look! Was that on Amazon too?
Yes! You can grab it here. 😊
Cheapest place to purchase the gadget without all that price gouging is target online, still 9.99.
Thanks for mentioning that, Nanette! I have added that link to the post!
They have a $2.50 off coupon right now. At least in red.
Nice find, Jen! Thanks for the heads up!
Can u i use coconut flour instead of almond flour but allergies?
Hi Michelle! We haven’t tried that, however that should work! Be sure to check out our flour guide for more flour alternatives – https://hip2keto.com/tips/gluten-free-keto-flours-recipes/
Good hint aboutthe cheese Browning, thanks
You’re welcome, Jeannie! Glad that was helpful!
I was wondering why if both the original and the everything waffle have the same ingredients there is 100 calorie difference
Hi Carol! They have different ingredients. The Basic Chaffle is just eggs and cheddar, while the Crispy Everything Chaffle has eggs, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, seasoning, and almond flour. Hoping that helps!
