Steak Bowl Taco Bell

Tonight we dine at the Bell!

Taco Bell offers a pretty basic nutrition and dining guide, but it helps even more to have a little keto help from someone who’s been where you are.

The only bummer with Taco Bell is that you can customize menus for calories, but not for carbohydrates (I’ve had issues in both the app and on their website). Because of this, I’ve calculated the macros within MyFitnessPal based on information other users have shared. That said, when in doubt, please run your own macros to doublecheck, just to be safe!

The basics of successful Taco Bell’s ordering:

  • Avoid rice, wraps, tortillas, chips, beans, and corn.
  • When in doubt, leave it out.
  • For drinks, stick with water, unsweetened iced tea, or Diet Pepsi products.
  • Download the free app to customize your favorite items and to schedule a pickup time: iPhone or Android.

Here’s how to order keto at Taco Bell:

Breakfast

“I’ll have the Mini Skillet with no potatoes. Please add steak, bacon, and guacamole.”

This is one breakfast in a bowl I can get behind! It comes with scrambled eggs, your choice of meat, shredded cheese, nacho cheese sauce, pico de gallo, and sour cream — pretty much anything you would hope for from an on-the-go keto breakfast!

Base Mini Skillet (without the added steak, bacon, or guac): 90 calories | 11g fat | 4g carbs | 1g fiber | 5g protein

  • Bacon: 70 calories | 5g fat | 0g carbs | 0g fiber | 4g protein
  • Sausage Crumbles: 60 calories | 5g fat | 0g carbs | 0g fiber | 2g protein
  • Steak: 260 calories | 16g fat | 9g carbs | 2g fiber | 21g protein
  • Guacamole: 35 calories | 3g fat | 2g carbs | .5g fiber | 0g protein

Lunch & Dinner

Taco Bell Steak Bowl

“I’ll have the Power Menu Steak Bowl, please, no beans, no rice, with extra guacamole, beef, and creamy jalapeno sauce.”

First, know you have so many options here! When you skip the seasoned rice and beans, you can even ask for extra romaine instead. If you’re extra hungry, be sure to check out these additions below!

Toppings

“…And to that bowl, can you add…”

What can you add to your bowl? A lot. Keep in mind, some of these toppings cost extra (varies by location). Pick from these:

  • Chicken: 250 calories | 15g fat | 7g carbs | 2g fiber | 21g protein
  • Steak: 260 calories | 16g fat | 9g carbs | 2g fiber | 21g protein

Salad

taco bell keto dining guide – taco salad in a bowl instead of a shell

“I’d like the Fiesta Taco Salad in a bowl instead of the shell. No rice, black beans, or tortilla strips. Can you add extra sour cream, pico de gallo, cheese, and veggies?”

This one is so filled with flavor, you won’t even miss the carbs. The numbers below are calculated from the full salad minus the carbs individually deducted in MyFitnessPal.

  • Chicken salad: 695 calories | 52g fat | 5g carbs | 4g fiber | 26g protein

As you can see, with a little due diligence, you can enjoy meals out wherever your adventures take you! Enjoy!

Thanks so much for this! I find the adding and taking away a bit confusing when hitting Taco Bell sometimes so it’s appreciated how simple you made it.
