Tips for whipping up the BEST keto Shamrock Shake:

    • Want a caffeinated twist? Freeze leftover coffee in an ice cube tray to use the frozen “coffee cubes” in place of regular ice for a dynamite mint frappuccino! Add a squirt of sugar-free chocolate syrup, and it’s just like you’re enjoying a Starbucks Thin Mint Frapp but without all of the carbs—YUM!

Keto Shamrock Shake (McDonald's Copycat)

yield: 2 SERVINGS

prep time: 5 MINUTES

total time: 5 MINUTES

This refreshing and sweet shake has all the delicious minty flavor without the carbs!

Ingredients

Directions

1

In a blender, combine the heavy cream, ice, cream cheese, erythritol, vanilla extract, mint extract, and food coloring. Process until smooth, about 30-60 seconds. If you prefer a thick shake, add a dash of xanthan gum (up to 1/8 teaspoon).

2

Pour the shake into one large or two small glasses. If desired, top with sugar-free whipped cream. Enjoy!

Additional Notes

Don’t be alarmed by the high total carb count! Erythritol does not affect blood sugar in the same way that regular carbs do, so we subtracted it from the total carb count. You’ll see that the net carbs are much lower once you remove the sugar alcohols.

Even the kiddos will adore this sugar-free shake!

Everyone will slurp up this keto shamrock shake the moment it’s finished blending. What a fun way to celebrate springtime with a sugar-free and refreshing treat. Enjoy!

keto shamrock shake on table

Check out what my teammate Taylor had to say about this keto shake:

“I’m not that big of a shake person, but this was spectacular! The mint flavor was delicious and refreshing, but not too overwhelming and the consistency of the shake was perfectly thick and creamy. I can’t believe how low-carb this dessert drink is! I made one for my kids too and they drank it in less than 10 minutes!

I initially went with 3 tablespoons of erythritol confectioners but added in a 4th tablespoon to make it just a smidge sweeter and it tasted fantastic!”

Best Keto shake hands down. I’ve switched it up some and have added a square or two of 85-90% dark chocolate and blended it up with the rest of the ingredients for a mint chip shake. Very good!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Woohoo! That sure sounds yummy, Brett! 🙌 SO glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for letting us know how your version turned out!

I’m going to throw in some baby spinach leaves because I don’t have green food coloring. I’ll let you know how it turns out. 😉

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Awesome! We’re excited to hear how it turns out for you!

  9. Michael A

I only have peppermint extract not pure mint extract, do you have a suggested substitution for the 1 tsp pure mint? I read peppermint is more strong flavor so would 1/2 tsp be good?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there! You could maybe start out with trying even less than that and see how you might like it. We have found the peppermint to be VERY minty. Let us know how it turns out!

      • Michael A

Hi Amber, I went with about 1/3 tsp of peppermint extract and this was a complete success! My wife said “This Shamrock Shake tastes better then any one at McD’s I ever had! My 3 and 6 year olds loved it as well, thank you for the great recipe!

        • Angie (Hip2Keto Sidekick)

Hi Michael! I made this today too! So glad that your family loved it. I agree, it definitely was a lot tastier & healthier! Thank you for your feedback ♥

  11. Ana

♥️♥️loved this!! Couldn’t find mint extract so had to use peppermint extract. I used 1/8tsp of peppermint extract and handful of spinach to give the green color. (You can not taste the spinach at all). I also used 4tbs of allulose it turned out soo good!! My kids absolutely loved it plus they get some spinach!! Thanks so much for the recipe!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yay! You’re so welcome, Ana! Glad they enjoyed it too! Thanks for sharing how you made yours!

  12. Debi

Can you use regular erythritol instead of confectioner’s?

  14. AmandaL

Wow! This was an amazing treat. My husband LOVES mint and said this was the best keto treat he’s ever had (we’ve been keto 3+ years). I’m not a mint fan so I subbed for 1t cocoa powder and 1t espresso powder and it was super yummy!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

What a HUGE compliment from your husband! I love the modifications you made as well, AmandaL!
