What could be a substitute for red pepper flakes? I have red pepper cayenne…..
Found this online—> “If you’re looking for a substitute in a recipe calling for red pepper flakes you can use ½ teaspoon of cayenne powder per ¾ teaspoon of Red Pepper Flakes.”
Do you add water to this like you would with a taco season packet? If so, how much? Thank you!
Yes and I would say 2/3 cup water is fine. Thanks so much!
thank you
Do you drain the hamburger when using for tacos? Thanks
Hi Nichole! You can drain the meat as needed. That can vary as to the fat content of the meat you have. Be sure to do what works best for you! Hope that helps!
Thanks
You’re very welcome!
Yes I do – most likely depends on the fat content of the meat you buy. I know real lean beef won’t need as much draining. 👍
I must make this as I love taco soup & haven’t had any since trying to stick with my keto routine
Yes! Fill your taco needs!
Made it! We used less red pepper flakes. It was delicious

Woohoo! Happy you’re loving this seasoning recipe too, Patricia! ❤️🙌 Thanks for letting us know it has been such a hit!
I just wanna say that this is truly the best taco seasoning ever! I ve made it over and over and it has its own taco seasoning jar in my spices. I can’t understand who, how and what, comes up when you google things, but this seasoning should pop up number one if it’s going by how good it is. I retire November 2023 if it’s the Lord’s will for me to see it, I’m gonna try a bunch of recipes from here. BTW, the taco soup here is terrible….terribly delicious. The reason I say that is , I over it EVERYTIME I make it, gone in two days and I live alone, it is terrible I say ( for my goals)! Hahaha Keep up the great work making delicious recipes
