All aboard the zoodle train!

Looks like Olive Garden caught wind of the trendiest veggie based noodle around. The Italian restaurant chain has recently debuted some yummy new menu items like their Zoodles Primavera using zucchini noodles as the base of the dish.

You probably already know that vegetable pasta is huge in the keto community, so we just had to try this out. Unfortunately, the basil cream sauce contains both wheat and sugar, but it can easily be subbed out for their gluten-free meat sauce or marinara!

The dish also has some shredded carrots, and while it’s a minimal amount, you may want to order without the carrots to spare yourself any additional carbs.

We love Olive Garden for adapting their menu to be a bit more adventurous (and on-trend with a ketogenic lifestyle), and we’re hoping other restaurants follow their lead. 😋

The BJ’s Brewhouse here also will sub zoodles in any of their pasta dishes for a $2 upcharge I think.

      Awesome! Thanks, Lisa!

I was so excited to try this dish. Being Type 1 Diabetic and gluten sensitive this looked like it would be right up my ally. Well, I was less then impressed. I subbed out the cream sauce for tomato sauce due to my gluten sensitivity. When it arrived it looked like a big bowl of mush, nothing like the picture. The flavor was ok, the veggies were big but also seemed over cooked, and they put way too much sauce. Hopefully that’s just my experience and others have better luck!

I’m so sorry to hear about your experience, Stacey! Thanks for sharing it, we appreciate the feedback!

I ordered chicken alfredo and subbed the zucchini noodles ($2 upcharge) this past week and enjoyed it very much. Had so much I was able to make two meals from the serving.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Wow! That’s awesome and so glad you enjoyed it, Kay Lynn!

How many carbs is the Zoodles Primavera?

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

If you order off the dinner menu with no substitutions, you’ll have 26 carbs.

      • Jennifer Patterson

What if you do marinara vs basil sauce. Can’t go over 20 carbs a day 27 is too much for one meal.

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there! When checking the nutritional chart, it looks like that would be 22g of carbs. Hope that helps!

I bought the OXO Zoodle maker ($15) and then ordered a bunch of zucchini from aldi’s through instacart. I noticed the price was $.07 per lb!!! I now have 2 gallon freezer bags full of zoodles for under $1. I also made my own keto alfredo sauce (so easy). I’m in keto heaven.

Love Aldi’s produce and great prices. Low carb noodles also. Great recipes with modified sauces keto friendly.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      We love ALDI, too!

I get this at least twice a week. I get two meals out of it. I hope they don’t take this meal away. I love it!!!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yay! SO glad you have been loving it! Thanks a bunch for the feedback!

What is the carb count when u sub out the sauce

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hmm, good question. I did a little digging and chatted with customer service. It looks like the Zoodles alone have around 7.35 grams carbs per cup and if adding the meat sauce instead, that would have 19 grams of carbs. Hope that helps!

If you check Olive Gardens nutrition chart the pesto sauce has 9g of carbs and marinara sauce has 22g. I think it’s the sugar.
