Ingredients

For the maple buns:

For the egg & meat portion (1 of each ingredient added to buns):

  • 5 cooked eggs
  • 5 sausage patties
  • 5 provolone cheese slices

Directions

In a large bowl, add all ingredients for the maple buns and mix.

Add 2 tablespoons of pancake batter to mini waffle maker and let cook for 2 minutes.

Cook the egg and sausage as normal. Add the cooked egg, sausage, and slice of cheese to the sandwich.

Enjoy fresh or wrap in plastic wrap, seal in a freezer-safe bag, and then freeze until ready to eat. Once ready, remove from the plastic wrap and microwave for 30-40 seconds or you could even heat up in the air fryer.

This copycat McDonald’s Sausage Mcgriddle Sandwich made keto-style is sure to be a breakfast game changer!

Following a keto lifestyle does not mean you have to give up delicious on-the-go breakfast options! Although I love whipping up scrambled eggs and bacon, there are also many mornings when I crave something different, like this copycat McGriddle Sandwich that I can make at home.

This copycat keto Sausage McGriddle Breakfast Sandwich tastes virtually identical to the famous McGriddle from McDonald’s minus most of the sodium and carbs! In fact, my keto version of this sandwich has 14g total carbs and 4.7g net carbs whereas the regular McGriddle Sandwich has a whopping 44 carbs! What a difference!

Hip tips for making the best keto sausage McGriddle copycat recipe:

  • Since the pancake batter makes more than enough for one sandwich, I usually make 4-5 sandwiches out of one batch and freeze them for the upcoming week.
  • You can also make this keto McGriddle with bacon, ham, or just spinach and mushrooms if you’re vegetarian.
  • I like using just one sausage patty on my McGriddle. I used some fresh ground sausage to make the patties, but you can also grab pre-made sausage patties from the grocery store instead to save time.

      I tried last night and it was an ok sandwich substitute. The mixture is very thick so it would not level out. I put a spoon full in the pan, cooked 2 min then turned it over and squished it down too make it flat. Came out ok but much better with the waffle maker.

        You can get a metal or silicone ring, often used to contain eggs or pancakes and it will help them stay in shape and be thicker. Mine was less than $1 at local stores or ebay.

      How did you get a bread with what looks like grill lines instead of waffle squares? I looked at the Dash Mini maker and it only shows squares for the waffle effect.

    I was unable to come up with the same macros on this sandwich. Mine ended up being 645 calories, 7 net carbs, 54 fat. Obviously my ingredients are not nearly as good as yours. Everything was sugar free and full fat. It still tastes great but too many calories/fat. Can you share the brands of ingredients that you used aside for the Lankato SF syrup?

    I made these this morning, and they were great! My only problem is that each “sandwich” ended up being 607 calories and 6 net carbs. I used Lidl brand cream cheese, Blue Diamond almond flour, and Food Lion brand sausage patties. The sausage is 100 calories each patty with zero carbs. I used one slice of Sargento ultra-thin Swiss cheese. Sweeteners were all as directed in the recipe. I just can’t justify using that many calories for breakfast, since I’m only at 1,200 per day. 🙁 I think I will have this open-faced instead and save calories that way. Thanks for the recipe!

      Try the Lidl Neufchâtel cream cheese instead – that has 1 g of carbs while their full fat cream cheese has 3 g. There are huge differences in cream cheese I’ve noticed.

    I have some paleo pancake and waffle mix I need to use up so I used that, following the directions for waffles and added the syrup and vanilla. It’s yummy. I used the preformed patties, but they don’t work so well in a sandwich. Next time, I’ll shape the sausage patties myself so they are a little bigger. I’m looking forward to trying this full recipe once I use up the mix.
